The Tale of Havok 1
So, this was our very first release. We felt that the incredible sound of our good friends Harry and Woody deserved to be pressed on vinyl, so DJs could spin it and the world could hear and dance to it. As I recall, Harry and Woody took their name from Repeater, the debut album of the Washington-based post-hardcore foursome Fugazi. Gleeb was the standout track on the A-side, while Plinth on the flip side paid tribute to—and showed love for—the Manchester rave scene’s admiration of German acid-meisters, Hardfloor.

This Side – Beast Road Bedlam

This is simply a play on words. The original studio was set up in the front room of 113 East Road, Levenshulme, where Harry and Woody lived at the time, along with Woody’s dog, Davros, who would later become a legend in his own right on Havok 15.
That Side – Another Fine Mess

Although this was Havok Records’ first release, it wasn’t the first for Repeater, who had released their Serpents Knees EP on Filterless Records a few months earlier. This etching references the classic Oliver Hardy quote, although I can’t recall through the haze whether Harry and Woody were fans of Laurel and Hardy.
