Medicine Man was born and raised in Manchester. After leaving school, he quickly found himself ensnared in the grind and monotony of selling cars for a living—he felt there had to be more to life than this. Initially a fan of classic bands like Pink Floyd, Medicine Man soon transitioned to techno and trance after attending events such as Megadogs and the Herbal Tea Party, where he became one of the familiar smiling faces in Manchester’s burgeoning underground party scene. These nights rocked, but Medicine Man craved something a bit more intense—enter Mick Beatle…
Medicine Man and Beatle became friends almost immediately, so when Medicine Man finally took a leap of faith and decided to flip from car salesman to club promoter, Mick Beatle was the first person he chose to handle the decks. However, it wasn’t long before Medicine Man honed his own mixing skills, bringing his unique style of pulsating techno to the Havok dancefloor, where he remained for the next ten years.
As the creative force behind the inception of Havok Records, Medicine Man nurtured the talents of the label’s resident producers, Harry Walker and Alan Woodburn. It wasn’t long before he began producing his own tracks under the moniker pHarmacy.
Drawing on his passion for hard electronic dance music, Medicine Man developed a distinctive style that encompassed a range of genres, from pure techno to hard trance and energetic acid music. pHarmacy produced several tracks for Havok Records, as well as contributions to One Inch Records and a remix for Stay Up Forever.
Medicine Man stepped back from Havok after ten years at the helm; however, like Mick Beatle, he still emerges from retirement once a year for the exhilarating Havok reunions.
